01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Along a quiet street in Azabu-Juban, Shiroikuro focuses entirely on sweets crafted with Tanba black soybeans. The shop's signature salted black soybean roll cake comes in two distinct varieties, "Shiro" (white) and "Kuro" (black). The pure white Shiro sponge features a subtle note of lemon, rolled around salted black soybean whipped cream and plump, tender beans. Kuro, by contrast, uses a bitter sponge tinted with bamboo charcoal and black cocoa, paired with rich cheese cream and salted beans.
Another popular choice for gifts or a personal treat is the salted black soybean daifuku. Soft mochi envelops lightly sweetened bean paste alongside large Tanba black soybeans. Though compact, the rich texture and delicate saltiness of the beans provide a pleasant contrast that accentuates the gentle sweetness of the mochi and bean paste.
The minimalist eat-in area, rendered in black and white, offers sliced roll cakes alongside roasted black soybean tea, green tea, or coffee. The fragrant black soybean tea leaves a clean, refreshing finish after the sweets, making it a soothing accompaniment for a relaxed cafe break.
